Skincare Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a moisturiser?

The simple answer is yes. If you have skin, you should be using a moisturiser. This is not a hard sell, and it doesn’t have to be one of our products but the frequent use of a moisturiser should be part of your daily routine. Moisturising regularly reduces the chance of skin extremes, that is to say, dryness or oiliness. A good moisturiser hydrates the skin and locks-in moisture. Additionally, they provide a barrier from harmful exterior elements and prevent natural oils from escaping. The combination of conditioning and protection makes your skin healthier, looking fresher and younger.

What’s the difference between moisturiser and a serum, and do I need to use both?

The primary difference between a serum and a moisturiser is that they target and treat different layers of the skin. Moisturiser conditions the top layer (the epidermis – specifically, the stratum corneum). At this level the layers are oil based and the skin cells are largely dead. Serums can delve deeper by penetrating the middle of skin layers (dermis) where skin cells are mainly water-based. Because of this, serums are capable of treating underlying triggers of skin issues. Essentially one is providing a barrier and hydrating what is visible, the other is absorbed deeper, combatting underlying issues.

How should I use your products?

For individual applications, please see our product pages. If using our everyday routine products, the order should be cleanse, apply serum then moisturise.

What is CBD and what does are its benefits to skin?

CBD, or to give it its proper name: cannabidiol is the active compound extracted from the cannabis sativa hemp plant. It is non-psychoactive, (entirely legal) and a fantastic boost to your skincare routine.

It works by supporting the body’s own natural system to give you smoother, clearer skin with a more balanced complexion.

CBD has potent antioxidant properties. Antioxidants protect the skin from free radicals, unstable molecules released by environmental aggressors (such as UV rays and pollution) that damage the structural parts of skin and accelerate the visible signs of aging: fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. By counterbalancing free radicals before they can inflict visible damage, antioxidants help skin look more youthful.

CBD applied topically is a gentle but powerful ally. It assists in preventing dry, red skin and alleviates itchiness. Phytocannabinoids are mild enough for delicate skin and neutralise the build-up of excess oil production. This is a great tonic for those with a combination complexion (both dry and oily) as moisture will be delivered where needed and more oily areas will appear shine-free and balanced. CBD’s oil-lessening benefits may also make it the ideal ingredient for those with blemish-prone skin.
